The University of San Diego women's soccer team defeated Northern Arizona 3-0 on the road Friday night at Lumberjack Stadium in Flagstaff. USD sophomore Michelle Rowe scored twice as the Torero women remained unbeaten under first-year head coach Ada Greenwood, improving to 3-0-1 on the young season.
Senior Brenna Mullen set up Rowe for the Toreros first score 12:32 into the game off of corner kick. Rowe repeated her efforts with 13:12 left in the match when she pounded the ball into the net from 25 yards out -while she was falling down.
"Rowe is an excellent player. She is the most dangerous player we have played against yet," NAU's head coach Andre Luciano said.
With less then three minutes to play USD sealed the game with Colleen Fogarty's unassisted goal from 15 yards away. USD out-shot NAU 17-8 on the evening. San Diego goal keeper Libby Bassett recorded her fourth shutout of the year, having yet to let a goal in this season.
"San Diego is a top-25 team consistently. These games are the ones that will prepare us for our conference. The kids played their hearts out, but speed and athleticism just got the better of us tonight," Luciano commented.
The Lumberjacks record fell to 1-3-1.
