LMU Cruises Past San Diego 69-49

(San Diego, CA) - 14 different LMU players saw playing-time in helping Loyola Marymount extend San Diego's losing streak to five with a 69-49 victory Saturday at USD's Jenny Craig Pavilion. Led by 15 points from Mary Turner, defending West Coast Conference Champions LMU (8-7; 2-0 WCC) has opened league play with two straight wins.

San Diego (5-10; 0-2 WCC) freshman Amber Sprague matched her season average by scoring 16 points. USD started four guards Saturday and was significantly out-rebounded, 44-27, for the second straight game.

Loyola Marymount, who went 13-1 in WCC play a year ago, led 36-19 at the half, shooting 50% (14-of-28) from the field and making five three-pointers in the opening period.

In the second half the Toreros got no closer than 14 points, trailing 57-43 with 3:06 remaining.

Torero starter Ashley Voisinet scored nine points and had six rebounds, while Lindsay Helvey scored eight on a pair of three-pointers.
