(Malibu, CA) - San Diego overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to contend for a West Coast Conference (WCC) road victory at Pepperdine's Firestone Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon. The host Waves took a 45-42 lead with 7:38 remaining on a three-pointer by Lauren Wenski and were able to hold off San Diego 65-55. USD (7-15; 2-7 WCC) has lost five consecutive league games, while Pepperdine (9-13; 5-4 WCC) has won 3-of-4. Freshman guard Amanda Rego led all Torero scorers with 16.

Lauren Wenski's three pointer with 7:38 left in the second half of Saturday's West Coast Conference (WCC) tilt against San Diego gave Pepperdine a 45-42 lead it would never relinquish as the Waves downed the Toreros, 65-55, in Malibu, Calif.
San Diego (7-15, 2-7 WCC) erased a 28-21 half-time deficit with a strong surge to open the second stanza of play. At the 15:41 mark Brandi Collato connected on her only trey of the afternoon to give the Toreros their first lead of the contest, 33-32. The lead would swap hands six times in all leading up to Wenski's three.
Jennifer Lacy's memorable season rolled on as the Agoura Hills, Calif., native poured in a game-high 20 points and secured 13 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the year. Junior Kelsey Ball banged home a career-high 16 on 7-10 shooting, while Wenski accounted for 10.
USD was paced by the play of Amanda Rego who dropped in 16 points, while Collato ended the contest with 11.
Pepperdine (9-13, 5-4 WCC) jumped out early on San Diego building up a 12-point, 18-6, lead before heading into the locker room ahead by a 28-21 margin.
