SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's soccer team lost 2-1 on Sunday afternoon against the Santa Clara Broncos wrapping up their 2009 WCC campaign. USD already clinched the WCC Title on Friday afternoon against Saint Mary's.

"We took care of business on Friday," said head coach Seamus McFadden. "The team is looking forward to the selection process on Monday afternoon so we can prepare for the next match."

The Toreros finish the WCC schedule at 8-2-1, with 26 points for first place in the conference standings. Overall, San Diego has a 12-5-2 mark wrapping up the regular season. Santa Clara improves to 6-9-5 overall and 4-5-3 in the WCC.

The Toreros prevented the shutout in 90th minute when senior midfielder Trevor May unloaded a shot cutting Santa Clara's lead to 2-1. Freshman midfielder Connor McFadden beat a Bronco on the right side dribbling down field into Santa Clara territory. McFadden sent a ball inside to teammate Marcelo Carminatti who quickly dished it off to May at the top of the 18-yard box who hit a first-touch shot off the left post for the goal.

Santa Clara scored in the 22nd minute off of a Torero hand ball that set up a free kick which was headed in for the early 1-0 lead. The Broncos scored in the first minute of the second half on a quick strike up field.

Kelin Briones recorded two goals against and two saves on the day. Santa Clara goalkeeper Naushad Godrej tallied four saves and one goal against. The 8-6 shot margin in favor of Santa Clara marks the first time USD did not out-shoot their opponent since October 16 against Saint Mary's. San Diego will await the results of the NCAA Selection Show announcement on Monday, November 16 at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN News to find out who they will play in the opening round of the post season and where.
