SAN DIEGO, Calif.- University of San Diego men's soccer player Ernesto Jimenez has been selected to play with the Dominican Republic National Team in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup. Jimenez, who is originally from Santo Domingo, D.R., will compete in the Dominican Republic's upcoming contests against El Slavador on Friday, Oct. 7th at 12:00 pm PT at home followed by a road match at Suriname on Tuesday, Oct. 11th.
This will be Jimenez's second time competing with the Dominican Republic National Team- he previously played in March 2008 in the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup, logging 120 minutes of action in a 1-0 loss to Puerto Rico. Jimenez has played on every level the Dominican Republic's National Teams, earning caps with the U15, U17, U20, and U23 squads.
Jimenez, a junior defender, is currently in his first season at USD after transferring from Western Michigan University and has yet to see action as a Torero.
