SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Behind another dominate performance, the 13th-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 West Coast Conference win over visiting Loyola Marymount Saturday afternoon at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Rachel Alvey recorded 38 assists and had three blocks, while helping steer the Torero offense to a .349 team attack percentage, and both Kandiss Anderson and C'era Oliveira recorded 11 digs apiece.

In the first set, the two teams battled back and forth in the early going, Then with the score at 10-7 in favor of USD, a Baird kill off a set from levy sparked a 4-2 Torero run, which forced the Lions into a timeout. Out of the break in action, USD was able to maintain that four point margin, which forced the Lions into their final timeout, trailing 17-13. USD never looked back as they cruised their way to a 25-17 win to grab the early momentum.

In the second set, a Amber Tatsch kill ignited a 7-4 Torero run to open the frame, giving USD all the early momentum. USD then took a four-point edge on a Alaysia Brown kill, which forced LMU into a timeout and USD leafing 10-6. San Diego then doubled up the Lions at 14-7, again forcing the Lions to call a timeout. The Lions just could not recover from this deficit as the Toreros kept the pedal to the medal and eased their way to a 25-12 win, to take a 2-0 lead heading into the break.

In the third and final set, it was a lot closer than the first two frames. The two teams sea-sawed back and forth a bit in the early going with both teams taking they turn with the lead, and neither team having a lead bigger than two. The Lions managed to stay close with USD throughout the match, until late in the set. With the Toreros leading 18-17, a Lozic kill sparked a 5-2 San Diego run, giving the Toreros match-point. The Lions didn't just fade away however, as they managed to reel off three consecutive points to pull to within two at 24-22, but it was not enough, as Katie Hoekman put things away with her seventh kill of the match to give USD its first sweep in WCC play.

The Toreros will return to action on Thursday, as they head up to the Bay Area to take on the Dons of the University of San Francisco in a 7 p.m. WCC match.
