SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Junior All-American Chloe Ferrari had her second consecutive errorless match, as she helped propel the 17th-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball tam to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-17) victory over Yale University Saturday afternoon at the USD Tournament.

Ferrari recorded a match-best 13 kills on 16 swings, while committing no errors to hit for a .812 clip, which is the second best single-match hitting percentage in program history. Carrie Baird also had a solid match for the Toreros, as she had nine kills, and Katie Hoekman added in eight kills. Rachel Alvey recorded 27 assists in helping steer the Torero offense to a .246 hitting percentage. Kandiss Anderson recorded a team-best 11 digs, while both Baird and Alvey had 10 digs apiece.

In the first set, the Bulldogs managed to stay even with USD in the early going. Then with the score knotted up at 4-all, a Yale service error sparked a 7-2 San Diego run that was capped on a Baird kill to give USD all the momentum and a 11-6 lead. The Bulldogs would then close the gap down to three on a few occasions, until the Toreros used a 5-0 run late in the frame to pull ahead 21-13, and they never looked back as they cruised their way to a 25-14 win.

In the second set, it was again close in the early going, until the score was knotted at 5-all. USD then put together a 7-1 run, which forced the Bulldogs into a timeout. Out of the break, Yale managed to begin to chip away at the lead and pulled back to within three at 14-11, but that is as close as they would get. The Toreros kept the pedal to the medal and closed out the frame on a 11-8 run to grab a two-sets-to-none lead.

In the third and final set, San Diego was just too much for Yale to handle, as the Toreros opened up the frame on a 8-0 run. Yale just could not recover from the deficit, as USD went on to complete the sweep with a 25-17 victory.

San Diego will return to action later on this evening in a 7 p.m. match against UC Santa Barbara to close out the USD Tournament.
