Toreros Shutout Dons 1-0

Oct. 12, 2013

Box Score

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Senior forward Emily Dillon scored the game-winning goal in the 44th minute to lift the Toreros (8-5-0, 1-1-0) to a 1-0 shutout victory over San Francisco (5-7-2, 0-3-0) Saturday afternoon. The win marks the Toreros first conference victory of the season and their fifth shutout.

Dillon's game-winner came just a minute before halftime when she sent a left-footed rocket past the Dons' keeper Madalyn Schiffel. Dillon now has six goals on the season, which puts her in a tie with freshman Michaela Dooley for the team-lead.

Dillon's goal would be all the Toreros' would need as goalkeeper Michelle Craft and the Toreros stout back line shut down didn't allow the Dons to even get a shot on goal. The Toreros have now allowed only one goal in their past four matches.

The Toreros attempted 12 shots, putting four of them on frame. Dillon led the offensive attack with six shots (three on goal). The Dons managed seven shots, but couldn't put any of them on target.

It was the fifth shutout of the season for Craft (8-5-0) and the Toreros. Dons keeper Madalyn Schiffel collected three saves but was saddled with the loss (5-7-2).

The Toreros return to action on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. when they host LMU (3-9-0, 0-1-0).
