MALIBU, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's tennis team (6-9. 2-3 WCC) suffered a conference loss to the No. 40 Pepperdine Waves (9-4, 3-0 WCC) at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center.

Playing without two starting regulars, the Toreros struggled to make headway against a solid Pepperdine team, falling 5-0.

Although staying close on court three, the Waves came out aggressive in doubles getting wins at both the No. 1 and 2 spots.

In singles play, the Toreros stayed competitive on all six courts, but could not slow the Waves' firepower. No. 25 Lorraine Guillermo knocked off sophomore Marta Stojanovic 6-3, 6-1, while Waves' Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai defeated freshman Janine Koleta 6-3, 6-4. Seniors Anna Depenau and Idil Haciraifoglu continued to gain momentum in their matches, however, Pepperdine's Michaela Capannolo was able to clinch the match defeating sophomore Mikayla Morkel-Brink 6-3, 6-1.

The Toreros get right back on the courts tomorrow, at 1:30 p.m. PT against the Loyola Marymount Lions.
