SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Behind a 13-kill performance from senior All-American Alaysia Brown, the 15th-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Brown University Friday afternoon at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the 25-23, 25-14, 23-12 win, the Toreros improve to 3-1 overall, while Brown falls to 0-1 on the season.

Brown led all players with 13 kills on 23 swings to hit for a .522 clip, and she recorded a season-high six digs in the win. Lisa Kramer was the only other Torero in double digit kills, as she had 10, on 19 swings to hit for a .368 clip. Jianna Bonomi recorded a double--double with 24 assists and 12 digs. Hunter Jennings recorded a match-high 18 digs. As a team, USD hit .276, while holding Brown to a team .121 attack percentage.

In the first set, the Toreros raced out to an 8-3 lead, grabbing all the early momentum. USD continued to cruise through the first frame, and took a 16-10 lead, forcing the Bears into a timeout. Brown then caught fire and went on a 6-3 run pulling to within two at 24-22, forcing the Toreros to use a timeout. San Diego then surrendered the next point, before a Canace Finley kill gave USD the set win, 25-23.

In the second set, San Diego jumped out to a 10-4 lead taking control of all the momentum, and forcing Brown to use a time out. San Diego continued to roll as they went on to build up a lead to as large as 10 at 18-8 on a Kramer kill, before settling for an 11-point victory of 25-14.

Set three was all Toreros, as they exploded out of the gates and jumped out to an 11-1 lead, and never looked back. As a team, USD hit a match-best .296 in this frame, while Brown was held to a -.074 attack percentage. USD completed the sweep with a 25-12 win.

The Toreros will return to action later this evening with a 7 p.m. match against Villanova at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
