SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Five Toreros scored in double figures, paced by senior guard Malina Hood's game-high 25, to help propel the University of San Diego women's basketball team to a 86-64 win over Cal State Northridge Tuesday evening in a non-conference game at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 2-0 on the young season, and have now beaten the Matadors six consecutive times. The Matadors fall to 0-2 with the loss.

Malina Hood scored her season-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, while pulling down two rebounds, recoding two steals and dishing out one assist. Maya Hood was the second Torero in double figures, as she had 16 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the field, and just missed her second double-double with eight rebounds. Sydney Williams scored a career-high 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, while also nearly recording a double-double with eight boards. Aubrey Ward-El scored a career-high 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while dishing out a game-high five assists. The final USD player in double figures was Katherine Hamilton, who also had 12 points, while pulling down five rebounds.

As a team, USD shot 46.6% from the field, while the Matadors shot just 37.1%. Both teams recorded 14 rebounds, and CSUN committed 24 turnovers, while USD just had 16 turnovers.

For CSUN, Nautica Morrow led the way, as she recorded 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field, while pulling down eight rebounds. Channon Fluker came off the bench and added in 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting. Tessa Boagni recorded a game-high nine rebounds.

The Toreros will return to action on Saturday, as they host the University of Arizona in a 4 p.m. non-conference game inside of the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
