SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Behind a balanced offensive attack, the 23rd-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Texas Christian University Saturday evening in the final match of the USD/SDSU Invitational.

With the 25-17, 25-27, 25-20 win, San Diego improves to 5-1 overall, and deals TCU its first set loss of the season. With the loss, the Horned Frogs fall to 5-1 on the young season.

Sophomore middle hitter Jayden Kennedy paced the Torero offense, as she recorded a team-best nine kills, while also registering three blocks and three digs. Both Lauren Fuller and Merve Tanyel added in with eight kills apiece, and Lisa Kramer had seven kills. Lauren Schad had a team-leading six blocks, while Tanyel recorded a team-best 10 digs. Caila Stapleton (17 assists) and Kristen Gengenbaucher (18 assists) each helped steer the USD offense to a .204 team attack percentage.

For TCU, Ashley Smith led the offense with eight kills, and she had five blocks and six digs. Alexia Heist recorded 13 assists in helping steer the Horned Frog offense to a .089 team attack percentage, and both Jillian Bergeson and Sutton Sunstrum had a team-leading seven digs.

San Diego will return to action on Friday, as they head to the UC Santa Barbara Tournament to compete against UCLA at 4 p.m.
