South Bend, IN â€" The USD golf team turned in a final round team score of 286 today in the Fighting Irish Golf Classic in South Bend, Indiana. It was USD's best team score of the three rounds and the Toreros would finish at 873 (+33), good for 12th place in the 15 team event at Warren Golf Course (par 70, yardage 6713).

Daniel Lopez fired a final round 2-over par 72 to finish at 212 (+2) and in a tie for 15th overall. Texas El Paso (835, -5) won the team title as they held off Notre Dame by one stroke. Individual medalist honors went to Notre Dame's Blake Barens who closed with a 68 to finish at 9-under par 201 (66-67-68). He held off Texas El Paso's Frederik Dreier by one stroke (70-65-67).

Rounding out USD scoring behind Lopez were George Gardner (T29 at 216, 75-71-70), Alvaro Escalada (T72 at 225, 71-82-72), Dalton Hankamer (T72 at 225, 78-75-72) and Nick Baines (T77 at 228, 75-80-73).

Up next for the Toreros is the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational October 30 thru November 1.
