SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Maya Hood and Caroline Buhr each scored 15 points to help lead the University of San Diego women's basketball team to a 67-44 thumping of Seattle University Monday evening in a non-conference game at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
With the win, the Toreros improve to 6-3 overall, and remain perfect at home with a 5-0 record. With the loss, the Redhawks fall to 2-9 on the season.
Burhr scored her career-high 15 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the field, while also pulling down six rebounds. Hood scored her 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, while recording a pair of steals and had three rebounds in 18 minutes of action. Cori Woodward led all players with seven assists, while also recording five steals, five rebounds and four points.
As a team, USD shot 44.0% from the field, while the Redhawks shot 31.6% from the field. Seattle managed to out rebound the Toreros 41-35, and USD only committed 17 turnovers, to Seattle's 20.
For the Redhawks, Alexis Montgomery led the way with 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field, and Kaylee Best was the only other player in double figures with 11 points. Montgomery led the team with eight rebounds.
San Diego will return to action on Dec. 21, as they host North Dakota in a non-conference game at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
