PULLMAN, Wash. -- The University of San Diego women's basketball team dropped a 83-73 decision to Washington State University Friday evening in a non-conference game at Beasley Coliseum.
With the loss, the Toreros fall to 4-2 on the season, while the Cougars improve to 5-2 with the win.
Maya Hood led all scorers with 27 points, on 13-of-18 shooting from the field, while just missing her third consecutive double-double with nine rebounds. Caroline Buhr, Katherine Hamilton and Aubrey Ward-El all recorded 10 points apiece, and Hamilton dished out a team-best five assists.
As a team, USD shot 45.6% from the field, while WSU shot 51.6% from the field. USD did out rebound the Cougars, 38-37, but committed 23 turnovers to WSU's 20.
For the Cougars, Borislava Hristova led the way with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field. Chanelle Molina added in 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while Pinelopi Pavlopoulou added in 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field.
The Toreros will return to action on Wednesday, as they travel to Tucson, Ariz. to take on the University of Arizona in a 6 p.m. non-conference game.
