TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona women's basketball team outscored the Toreros 49-26 in the second half to deal the University of San Diego a 76-59 loss in a non-conference game at the McKale Center.
With the loss, the Toreros fall to 4-3 on the season, and have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 6-1, and run their winning streak to four.
Aubrey Ward-El led the Torero offense with a career-high 12 points on 4-of-15 shooting from the field, while pulling down three rebounds. Patricia Brossmann was the only other Torero in double figures, as she scored 11 on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. Cori Woodward recorded four assists and had two steals, while Maya Hood recorded four steals and had six points.
As a team, USD shot 28.4% from the field, and were outrebounded 45-31. The Wildcats shot 50% from the field, and the Toreros forced the Wildcats into 23 turnovers, while only committing 14 themselves.
For Arizona, LaBriittany Jones led the way with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, while pulling down seven rebounds. JaLea Bennett was the second of three Wildcats in double figures, as she scored 17, and Breanna Workman added in 12 points.
The Toreros will return to action on Saturday, as they return to the friendly confines of the Jenny Craig Pavilion to host Nevada in a 2 p.m. non-conference game. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
