NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- In the final day of the Matador Classic, the USD softball team (9-15) managed just one total run on five combined hits and fell to No. 24 Oregon State 11-0 and CSUN 5-0.

Megan Sabbatini retired the first eight batters she faced while collecting four strikeouts, but struggled with her control after retiring the first two batters in the top of third. Sabbatini walked four consecutive batters to give the Beavers their first run and prompt Coach McElvain to bring in Grace Hernandez, who got the inning's final out in just two pitches.
The Beavers added two more runs off Hernandez in the fourth inning, scoring one on a RBI single and another on a Torero error.
After the first three Beavers got hits in the in the fifth inning, McElvain brought Sabbatini back in. The first hitter she faced hit a RBI single, but then Sabbatini retired the next three batters to end the inning with OSU up 6-0.
The Toreros had just three hits in the game, highlighted by Danielle Mavridis' two-out solo home run to center in the fifth.
The Beavers tacked on five more runs in the fifth on four singles.
Sabbatini (4-8) allowed four earned runs on three hits in 4.2 innings. Hernandez also gave up four earned runs, but in just 1.1 innings.
CSUN 5, SAN DIEGO 0
After pitching two scoreless innings, Sabbatini allowed two runs in the bottom of the third. With runners on first and second, Karlie Habitz hit a two-RBI double to the gap to give CSUN their first runs.
The Matadors' Ariana Wassmer led off the fourth with a solo home run to left. Tara Kliebenstein followed that with a double, ending Sabbatini's day. Grace Hernandez came in relief and gave up an unearned run as CSUN took a 4-0 lead.
The Toreros had runners on second and third with one out in the fifth inning, but the next two batters grounded out to end the threat.
Sabbatini (4-9) was saddled with the loss despite allowing just one earned run on six hits in her three innings. Hernandez gave up one earned run on three hits in three innings of relief.
The Matadors tacked one more on in the fifth inning after hitting a sacrifice fly following a single and double.
The Toreros return to action Wednesday when they host Yale at 1:30 p.m.
