SAN DIEGO, Calif. â€" The USD softball team (7-12) lost to Pittsburgh 8-6 and No. 9/11 Texas A&M 21-0 Saturday, extending their losing streak to six games.

In the top of the second, Olivia Sandusky reached on single to center. The next batter, Mary Grabowski then roped a triple into the right center gap to give USD its first run. Two batters later, Lauren Berriatua hit a line drive RBI single to center to bring Grabowski home and give USD a 2-0 lead.
The Panthers cut USD's lead in half in their next at-bat. With one out Giorgiana Zeremenko doubled to the right center gap and then advanced to third on a throwing error by Grace Hernandez, who was hurt on the play. Megan Sabbatini came in and gave up a RBI sacrifice fly, bringing the score to 2-1 USD.
Sabbatini ran in to trouble in the bottom of the third. After Kathryn Duran led off the inning with a solo home run to left, Sabbatini hit Shelby Pickett and gave up a single to Maggie Sevilla. Sabbatini got the next two Panthers out, but then walked Kaitlin Manuel to load the bases. Zeremenko then hit a two-RBI double to left field. After another Sabbatini walk, the Panthers hit another two-RBI double with the bases loaded to give them a 6-2 lead and end Sabbatini's day; she was replaced by Lauren Berriatua, who got the final out of the inning.
The Toreros got one back in the top of the fifth with a pair of doubles to left center by Tatum Schultz and Kailey Hill.
Zeremenko's hot day continued in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run to left, extending the Panthers' lead back to four runs (7-3).
The Toreros cut in to the lead in the top of the sixth when pinch-hitter Jenna Kumabe hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home Sandusky, who led off the inning with a single.
The Panthers scored one more on an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Toreros made things interesting in their final at-bat, loading the bases with one out. Mary Grabowski launched a deep double to right field to bring home to two runners, but got thrown out trying to extend it to a triple.
Sabbatini (2-6) was charged with the loss after struggling in the third inning. She gave up five runs in 1.1 innings. Berriatua pitched 3.1 innings in relief, giving up one earned run on two hits.
The Panthers' Sarah Dawson (7-0) earned the win despite giving up four earned runs on eight hits. Jenna Modic earned the save after giving up two runs in two innings. The Toreros outhit Pittsburgh 10-8.

In game two the Toreros were taking on one of the most potent offenses in the nation. The No. 9/11 Aggies lead the nation in home runs and had already won via run-rule nine times.
Aided by five walks and two hit batters, the Aggies sent 13 batters to the plate in the top of the second and scored ten runs on four hits, highlighted by a Breanna Dozier grand slam.
The Aggies scored six more in the third with four hits.
The Toreros' best opportunity to score came in the bottom of the third when then had runners on second and third and two outs but the Aggies' Katie Marks was able to induce Kailey Hill into a groundout to third.
A&M added five runs in the top of the fifth on six hits.
It was the worst loss in school history for USD. Amongst four pitchers, the Toreros gave up a school record 21 earned runs, 17 hits, and walked nine batters.
