San Diego, Calif. - USD head football coach Dale Lindsey and his coaching staff are pleased to announce their 2016 recruiting class. The 34 incoming recruits will join up with the rest of the Torero returners when the team reports for camp on Tuesday, August 9th. Five of the recruits are from San Diego County, and a total of twenty-five student-athletes hail from the state of California. Rounding out the class are recruits from the states of Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Texas and Utah.

By position the incoming class includes seven offensive linemen, seven defensive linemen, four wide receivers, four cornerbacks, three quarterbacks, three linebackers, two running backs, two nickel backs, one strong safety and on kicker.

The team's first practice for camp is slated for Wednesday, August 10th. USD's season opener is September 3rd against Western New Mexico (6 pm) at Walter J. Zable Field at Torero Stadium. This past season the Toreros finished 9-2 overall and were co-champions of the Pioneer Football League (7-1 record).
