STOCKTON, Calif. - Three University of San Diego women's basketball players scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough, as the Toreros dropped a 84-64 decision to the University of the Pacific Thursday evening in a West Coast Conference game at the Alex G. Spanos Center. With the loss, the Toreros fall to 7-6 overall, and move to 1-2 in the WCC. With the win, the Tigers improve to 7-7 overall and remain in first place in the WCC at 4-0.
Katherine Hamilton led the USD scoring effort tonight, as she had 16 points on 5-of-14 shooting from the field, while also pulling down five rebounds and recording a pair of steals. Cori Woodward recorded 13 points on 3-of-8 shooting to mark her fourth consecutive game of scoring in double figures, while Aubrey Ward-El added in 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field.
As a team, USD shot 39.3% from the floor, while Pacific shot 56.9%. The Toreros were out rebounded 33-30, and San Diego committed 18 turnovers, to Pacific's 16.
For the Tigers, Desire Finnie led the way with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field, while G Laulau-Summers added in 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. Mauriana Clayton added in 11 points and Chelsea Lidy had 10 points to round off the double-digit performers for the home team.
San Diego will return to action on Saturday, as they host the Pepperdine Waves in a 2 p.m. WCC game inside the friendly confines of the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
