SAN DIEGO - Miguel Berry scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season to propel San Diego to a 2-1 overtime victory against Gonzaga on Sunday afternoon at Torero Stadium.

The victory extended the Toreros (7-3-2, 2-0-1 WCC) unbeaten streak to six games. USD improved to 7-1-1 in its past nine meetings against the Bulldogs (6-6-1, 0-3-0 WCC).

Freddy Polzer got the game-winning play going, winning the ball near the center circle. He sent a pass wide right to Djordje Babic, who took a touch, looked up field and sent a cross-field pass to an on-running Berry.

Berry took a touch to control the long-ball and powered a perfectly placed shot to the top right corner of the goal.

Miguel Berry scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season and third game-winner.

It was a fitting end to a match the Toreros dominated for long stretches. USD outshot the Bulldogs, 22-4, and held a 6-0 corner kick advantage.

The Toreros had their chances to score during regulation but had trouble solving Gonzaga goalkeeper, Ben Willis, who made nine saves.

USD fell behind early when the Bulldogs, Mat Kintzle, headed in a cross from Nick Ulowetz in the 19th minute. It was the second straight game the Toreros surrendered a goal in the first 20 minutes.

The Toreros had its chances in the first half. Berry connected on a shot that ringed off the left post in the 15th minute and Aaron Frey had a shot that was headed to the bottom right corner of the goal before Willis got his fingertips to the ball to deflect it wide.

The Toreros continued to pressure forward in the second half and was rewarded in the 70th minute after a terrific combination play in the final third.

Aidan Marmion carried the ball down the right sideline and sent a pass to Babic in the middle of the field. Babic used a crafty turn on the ball to evade a defender, then slipped a pass to Ulber Perez on the left side of the top of the penalty box.

Perez buried his shot to the left side of the goal to level the score at 1-1. It was Perez's first goal of the season.

The game opened up during the final 20 minutes of regulation but neither side found a finishing touch for a game-winner and USD went to overtime for the second straight game.

Berry's overtime winner kept the Toreros unbeaten in conference play.

USD will look to keep its momentum going next Sunday at 5 p.m. (PT) when it takes a break from conference play to take on UCLA.

The game against the Bruins will be Seamus McFadden Night, honoring San Diego's head coach who is in his 39th and final season as the head coach of the Toreros.
