Box Score

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. â€" Head Coach Cindy Fisher notched her 300th career victory with the Toreros' 71-58 win at UC Santa Barbara Monday evening. The Toreros, who improved to 5-1 on the season, had three players with at least 15 points.

Alexandra Hagen scored a career-high 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting. Maya Hood chipped in 16 points (8-for-11 shooting) with a team-high eight rebounds and Aubrey Ward-El continued her stellar senior year with 15 points and a career-high seven assists.

The Toreros shot 48 percent from the field with all 30 of their field-goals coming from inside the arc. They scored 26 points off 24 Gaucho turnovers, but were outrebounded for the first time this season (36-30, UCSB).

The first half was a tale of two completely different quarters. After falling behind 7-4 early, the Toreros went on a 16-2 at the end of the first quarter to open up a double-digit lead (20-9) at the break. The Gauchos began the second quarter on an 11-0 run to the game at 20-20, before USD eventually was able to push their lead back to five points to take a 37-32 lead at the half despite the Gauchos shooting nearly 70 percent in the first half.

The Toreros' defense tightened up in the second half and USD pulled away in the fourth quarter behind a 16-3 run on their way to a 71-58 win.

Coach Fisher now has a career record of 300-232 with 241 of her wins coming at USD.

The Toreros, in the midst of a season-long four game road trip, play at San Diego State on Wednesday evening.
