2018 USD Baseball Schedule
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego Head Baseball Coach Rich Hill has released the Toreros' 2018 schedule, which features ten schools who appeared in the 2017 postseason, making this one of the toughest non-conference schedules the Toreros have ever assembled.
"We continue our tradition of playing the best," Coach Hill said. "This year our non-conference weekend series and mid-week games are unreal and gives us one of the ten toughest schedules in the nation."
The Toreros' schedule is highlighted by the Tony Gwynn Memorial Classic, which features three teams that made the NCAA Championships, as well as two games at perennial powerhouse Oregon State to close out the regular season.
USD also hosts Indiana for a four-game series and travels to Houston for three game series. They also have midweek games against Texas Tech, Cal State Fullerton, San Diego State, Stanford, Arizona State, UC Irvine and UC Riverside.
The Toreros' kick off the season by hosting Cal and Cincinnati February 16-18. After an exhibition game against British Columbia (Feb. 19), the Toreros have their first of two games against San Diego State (Feb. 20 at SDSU).
USD then begins the Tony Gwynn Memorial Classic where they will host Michigan (Feb. 23) and Grand Canyon (Feb. 24) before taking on both Arkansas and Arizona on February 25. Michigan, Arkansas and Arizona all made the postseason a year ago.
As part of a ten game stretch against postseason teams from 2017, the Toreros will then host Indiana for a four game series (March 2-4) before traveling to the University of Houston for three games (March 9-11).
After hosting San Diego State March 13, the Toreros will begin conference play with a three game series against Santa Clara (March 16-18).
The next eight games will be on the road, beginning with a Tuesday game at Cal State Fullerton (March 20). Then the Toreros have their first WCC road series, playing at Pacific (March 23-25). They will stay in the Bay Area and play at Stanford March 27 and then go to San Francisco for a three game series (March 29-31).
The Toreros return to Fowler Park for eight straight games. They kick off the home stand against UC Irvine (April 3) before hosting LMU (April 6-8) and Saint Mary's (April 13-15) for three game series and then have their second meeting with Cal State Fullerton (April 17).
Back on the road for another eight game stretch, USD plays at Pepperdine (April 20-22) and at 2017 WCC Tournament champ, BYU (April 26-28), with midweek games against UC Irvine (April 24) and at Texas Tech (May 1), another 2017 postseason team.
After hosting Gonzaga (May 4-6) and UC Riverside (May 8) and Arizona State (May 9), the Toreros head to Oregon to finish their regular season against Portland (May 11-13) and Oregon State (May 14-15), who played in the 2017 College World Series.
