SAN DIEGO — Jayden Lobliner was named the 2026 WCC Defensive Player of the Year by the West Coast Conference on Tuesday afternoon, highlighting 2026 All-WCC recognition for seven different Toreros. 

Lobliner, a senior catcher from St. Charles, IL, is the first player to win the award in back-to-back seasons in program history, and gives the Toreros a WCC defensive player of the year winner in three straight years, following in the footsteps of Ariel Armas who won the award in 2024.

The Defensive Player of the Year honor was the highlight of a strong day for the Toreros at the 2026 All-WCC announcements, as Andrew Gauna earned a First Team All-WCC selection, with CJ Moran joining him on the First Team. Jayden Lobliner also earned a Second Team selection, and Diego Gonzalez and Diego Gutierrez each received Honorable Mention recognition alongside three Toreros on the All-Freshman Team in Phoenix Brant, Diego Gonzalez, and Jayton Greer.
