Chula Vista, Calif. â€" The USD golf team is co-hosting the 2017 Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, California. After two rounds of play on day one the Toreros find themselves in 15th place t 607 (302-305). The Texas Longhorns, the top ranked team in the tournament at #18, is the clubhouse leader at 6-under par 570 (283-287). Thomas Rosenmueller of North Texas is the leader after two rounds at 5-under par 139 (69-70). He leads four players by one stroke.
Nathan Zhao is USD's top performer after day one at 147 (tie 41, 75-72). He is followed by Nick Baines (tie 67 at 152, 75-77), David Ricciardelli (73rd at 153, 75-78), Dalton Hankamer (83rd at 155, 77-78) and Alvaro Escalada (86th at 159, 78-81). Four Toreros are competing as individuals â€" Camilo Mexsen (tie 46 at 148, 74-74), Daniel Lopez (tie 54 at 149, 74-75), Regan Kilpatrick (tie at 79, 81-74) and George Gardner (91st at 166, 87-79).
The third and final round will begin on Tuesday, March 14th, at 8:00 a.m. with groups going off tees #1 and #10.
