SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Toreros had tough competition against No. 1 in conference and No. 17 nationally, Pepperdine. Even though the Toreros lost the doubles point, they were able to grab one win in doubles play.
The No. 3 team of Sophia Chow and Maria-Paula Torres won their match against Pepperdine's Laura Gulbe and Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai, 6-3. Pepperdine's No. 1 team, who are ranked No. 6 defeated Gemma Garcia and Daniela Morales on court one. Luisa Stefani and Ashley Lahey clinched the doubles point for the Waves against Nicole Anderson and Colomba DiFilippo.
Pepperdine's one, two and three singles players won their matches against the Toreros, and clinched the overall win for the Waves. No. 9 Luisa Stefani won her match at the No. 1 position against Nicole Anderson. No. 21 Ashley Lahey defeated Daniela Morales in the No. 2 spot and No. 32 Mayar Sherif Ahmed downed Gemma Garcia at the third position.
The Toreros fell to 8-12 overall and 4-3 in conference. The Waves improved to 14-4 overall and 6-0 in conference.
Next up, the Toreros compete at the University of San Francisco Thursday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m.
