SAN DIEGO â€" Danielle Taylor and Mackenna Briggs each won an individual event but it was not enough for San Diego to take down San Diego State as the Toreros fell, 153-131, Friday afternoon.
Taylor paced the field in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.67. She added a second-place result in the 200 free (1:52.96) and contributed to USD's second-place finish in the 400 free relay.
Briggs led the Toreros in the distance events, finishing first in the 1000 free (10:37.74) and second in the 500 free (5:11.76).
Sam Terranova followed close behind Briggs in each of the distance events, placing third in both with times of 10:43.88 and 5:14.67.
Alex Hubel earned a third-place finish in the 100 fly, checkingin at 57.29.
The Toreros finished the meet strong with a second-place result in the 400 free relay. Briggs, Hubel, Sydney Wong and Taylor combined for a time of 3:33.67.
Elizabeth Petty represented USD in the diving events and placed seventh in both, scoring 187.43 in the 1-meter and 205.28 in the 3-meter.
The Toreros return home for their final regular-season meet of the year next Saturday at noon PT when they play host to UC San Diego.
