Final Stats

SAN DIEGO -

Provo, Utah - Three San Diego players scored in double-digits, led by Aubrey Ward-El's 16 points, as the Toreros defeated BYU, 66-60, Saturday at the Marriott Center.

Along with Ward-El's 16 points, Maya Hood scored 12 points and Sydney Williams added 10. Myah Pace grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and dished out four assists.

With the win, the Toreros (15-12, 8-8 WCC) win the season series against BYU (15-12, 10-6 WCC).

Although the Toreros scored the first basket, BYU held a narrow lead for the majority of the first quarter. A jump shot by Aubrey Ward-El changed that at the end of the first quarter, putting the Toreros up, 15-14. They held onto the lead for the remainder of the game.

An early 7-2 run by the Toreros in the second quarter helped extend their lead. They gained their biggest lead at the beginning of the third quarter, when they were up by nine on multiple occasions.

BYU closed the gap in the fourth quarter, when they narrowed the deficit to 61-60. That's as close as the Cougars would get and the Toreros sealved the win, 66-60.

The Toreros wrap up the regular season next week on the road at Gonzaga on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT and return home for Senior Day against San Francisco on Saturday at 2 p.m.
