USD vs UBC Box 
FOWLER PARK â€" The USD Toreros rallied for a 12-8 exhibition win over British Columbia this evening at Fowler Park. Trailing 8-7 after the top of the 6th inning the Toreros scored 5 runs in the bottom half to put the game away. Chris Colarossi provided the key hit with a 3-run double down the left field line.
Junior LHP Doug Nimura scattered four hits over the final five innings, allowing just two earned runs, to help close out the victory. Junior LHP Nick Sprengel got the start and gave up six runs through four innings of work.
The Toreros jumped out to a 5-1 lead through two innings against the UBC Thunderbirds. In the bottom of the second Trevor Rosenberg's squeeze bunt plated Jordan Abushahla and Dante Gutierrez. British Columbia answered with five runs on six hits in the top of the third to take a 6-5 lead. Mitch Robinson had the key hit off of Torero starter Nick Sprengel with a 2-run homer.
Rosenberg's third RBI of the game in the 4th inning tied up the game and both teams added a run in the 5th for the 7-7 score. In the bottom of the 6th Chris Colarossi cleared the bases with a double down the left field line for three RBIs to give USD an 11-8 advantage. Rosenberg and Colarossi each totaled three RBIs.
Junior 1B Garrett Calvert turned in a solid night as he went 3-for-5 at the plate with one run and one RBI. Junior Kevin Collard went 2-for-4 and led the team with three runs scored.
British Columbia was paced by Mitch Robinson who finished 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.
