SAN DIEGO – San Diego secured an overtime victory, 1-0, against UNLV on Sunday at Torero Stadium.

Alex Churness scored the game winner for the Toreros (3-3-2) when he headed a
Patric Krall cross into the corner of the net. It was Churness' first career goal for the Toreros, in the 100th minute of sudden victory overtime.

The Rebels (5-3) applied pressure early and remained in the final third for most of the first half, but they could not break through USD's sound back line.Â

Junior
Connor Hountalas got the start in goal for San Diego, and made five saves on the night. His best save came in the 53rd minute when UNLV forward John Lynam made his defender miss before driving the kick to Hountalas' left. Hountalas made a diving save to deflect the ball out of the box.
After a back and forth contest for 90 minutes of regulation, the Toreros headed into overtime for the third straight match.
Alex Churness clinched the win for San Diego in the final minute of the first overtime period, which brings the Toreros to 3-3-2 on the season.Â

Miguel Berry lead the Torero offense with three shots each. UNLV outshot the Toreros, 16 to 11, and held the small advantage in corner kicks, 5-4.Â
