SAN DIEGO— San Diego will host Portland and No. 13 Gonzaga this weekend in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

The Toreros (8-9, 1-5 WCC) will face the Pilots (8-8, 0-5 WCC) on Thursday at 12 p.m. PT before hosting the Bulldogs (16-1, 5-0 WCC) on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT. Gonzaga currently sits in second place in the West Coast Conference and is ranked 13th in the AP Poll.Â

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros suffered tough losses on the road against Saint Mary's (74-60) on Thursday night and Pacific (79-47) on Saturday afternoon.Â

Patricia Brossmann scored a career-high and recorded her sixth double-double of the season against Saint Mary's. Brossmann finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 8-for-17 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.

Madison Pollock contributed 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists while
Leticia Soares chipped in eight points and
Sydney Shepard added a team-high five assists.

•It was a tale of two halves, with a back-and-forth battle in the first half that saw nine ties and five lead changes, with neither team leading by more than five points. The teams were knotted 15-15 at the end of the first quarter and 25-25 at halftime.

•Saint Mary's came out aggressive to start the second half, knocking down back-to-back 3-point shots to spark a 10-2 run and never relinquished the lead again.Â

Leticia Soares recorded her first double-double of the season against Pacific on Saturday afternoon. Soares paced the Toreros with 19 points, hitting 9-of-13 from the field and led the team with 10 rebounds, including five offensive boards.

Sydney Hunter finished the day with eight points, while
Kiera Oakry added six.
Madison Pollock and
Sydney Shepard led USD with three assists each and Pollock chipped in eight rebounds.

•The Toreros struggled offensively, shooting 33 percent on 21-of-64 from the field and committing 20 turnovers. The Tigers led from start to finish, shooting 49 percent on the day (30-of-61) and 9-of-20 from three-point range.

•The Toreros minimized turnovers in the second half and outrebounded Pacific 22-21 including a 7-4 advantage in offensive boards but USD was still unable to capitalize on offensive opportunities. The Tigers outscored the Toreros 17-9 in the third quarter to effectively seal the victory.

•USD held the advantage in rebounds 45-39 and outscored the Tigers in the paint, 34-32 and on second-chance points, 18-12. However, Pacific dominated in points off of turnovers, 27-7 and were solid from beyond the arc, outscoring USD 27-3.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PORTLAND
• The Toreros lead the all-time series with the Pilots, 42-32 and have won the last 10 in a row, including both games last season. USD won the first meeting 59-52 and took the second matchup 75-60.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST GONZAGA
• Gonzaga leads the all-time series with the Toreros 43-23, and the Bulldogs currently have a five-game winning streak over USD. The Zags won both regular season matchups (63-44; 58-54) before the Toreros fell to the Bulldogs in the final of the WCC Tournament, 79-71.

Patricia Brossmann has established herself as a top performer for the Toreros this season. She leads the team in points (12.2 avg), rebounds (7.7 avg) and has a team-high six double-doubles this season which also ranks first in the WCC. Brossmann currently ranks fourth in the WCC in rebounding and sixth in field-goal percentage (50.9).Â

Myah Pace leads the team in assists, averaging 4.8per game which ranks first in the conference. Pace is second on the team in steals (25 total, 1.8 avg) which ranks ninth in the conference. She also ranks top-10 in the conference with a 75.5 free-throw percentage, hitting 40-of-53 to rank seventh.

Madison Pollock is second on the team in rebounds, averaging 5.9 per game to rank 13th in the conference. Pollock also ranks second in scoring, averaging 10.4 points per game.

Sydney Shepard leads the Toreros from beyond the arc with a 31.6 three-point field-goal percentage, hitting 30-of-95. Shepard is second on the team with 64 assists this season, averaging 3.8 per game to rank 12th in the conference.Â
