San Diego will host Pacific and Saint Mary’s this weekend

 SAN DIEGO—After three games on the road, San Diego will play host to Pacific and Saint Mary's this weekend in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
 
The Toreros (16-5, 9-1 WCC) take on the Tigers (12-10, 4-6 WCC) on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT before facing off with the Gaels (8-12, 4-6 WCC) on Saturday at 12 p.m.
 
All matches will be streamed via the WCC Network and live statistics will be available on USDToreros.com.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros split their matches 1-1 last week, falling to Pepperdine 0-3 (19-25, 25-27, 22-25) on Thursday evening before defeating Loyola Marymount 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon.
 
• Thana Fayad and Grace Frohling led the attack for the Toreros in week nine. Fayad collected 23 kills in two games, registering 3.29 kills per set and hitting .260. Fayad earned her seventh double-double of the season against Pepperdine, finishing with 12 kills and 10 digs. Frohling 20 kills (2.86 per set), hitting at a blazing .472 clip. She paced USD with 12 kills, hitting .500 on Saturday at LMU.
 
• Anna Newsome averaged 9.29 assists per set and directed San Diego to a .294 team hitting percentage. The senior also led the Toreros at the service line, collecting four aces.
 
•  USD was led in the back court by Fayad and Annie Benbow who both collected 19 digs (2.71 per set) over the weekend. Benbow collected a team-high 13 digs against Pepperdine, while Fayad added 10.
 
• The Torero block struggled against the Waves, collecting a season-low two blocks. USD bounced back on Saturday, tallying six team blocks with Lauren Turner leading the charge with four block assists and Fayad and Frohling adding three each.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PACIFIC
•  The Toreros lead the all-time series with the Tigers 17-0, taking the earlier meeting this season 3-1. Megan Jacobsen led the Toreros with 14 kills and Turner added a career-high 11 kills. USD collected 11 blocks led by Turner with seven blocks (2 solo).
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SAINT MARY'S
•  San Diego holds a 55-14 all-time record over the Gaels, sweeping SMC earlier this season 3-0. Fayad and Wiblin paced the Toreros offensively, hitting 12 and 11 kills respectively and the Toreros were efficient, finishing with a .473 hitting percentage.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
• San Diego dropped out of the AVCA Division I Coaches' Poll this week after jumping back in at No. 22 last week. USD has continued to receive votes each week this season and sits just outside the top-25 with 60 adjusted points. San Diego's highest ranking this season was 21st in the preseason poll.
 
• The Toreros sit at No. 34 in the NCAA RPI rankings, having faced two opponents in the top-10 and six opponents in the top-30.
 
OFFENSIVE EFFICIENCY
• The Toreros are currently hitting .282 as a team on the season to rank 9th in the nation and first in the WCC. USD is collecting 13.90 kills per set to rank 26th nationally and first in the conference.
 
• USD also ranks first in the WCC for assists per set (12.83) and 28th nationally.
 
• Megan Jacobsen ranks first in the WCC and 25th nationally with a .399 hitting percentage.
