STOCKTON, Calif.—San Diego defeated Pacific (25-17, 25-27, 26-24, 25-16) in a four-set battle on Saturday afternoon at Alex G. Spanos Center.

The Toreros (12-4, 5-0 WCC) hit .325 to extend a 10-match winning streak with three players reaching double-digit kills.Â

The USD middles led the way with
Megan Jacobsen collecting a match-high 14 kills, hitting .458 with three blocks and one ace to finish the day with 16.5 points. It was a career day for
Lauren Turner who tallied a season-best 11 kills on 17 swings (.588), adding seven blocks (2 solo).

Grace Frohling also reached double-digits with 10 kills, hitting .429 and adding four blocks.

Anna Newsome collected 33 assists, six digs, one block and one ace, while
Laura Madill added 11 assists and two digs for USD.

Annie Benbow paced the Toreros in the back court with 12 digs, while
Payton Douglass and
Roxie Wiblin added seven and six digs respectively.
The Toreros jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the second set and led by six points as late as 21-15. The Tigers then went on a 7-1 run, including three aces to pull even at 22-all. The teams traded points before a Pacific kill followed by an ace gave the Tigers set-two 27-25.

The third set remained tightly contested with 12 ties and four lead changes. With the Toreros leading 9-5—the largest lead of the set—Pacific rallied back to pull even at 15-15. The teams remained knotted to 24-all before a kill from Fayad and a Pacific attack error gave USD the 26-24 edge.

It was all Toreros in the final set, hitting.435 and committing just one error on their way to a 25-16 fourth-set victory.

It was a battle from the service line with the Tigers collecting 10 aces but committing 15 service errors, while the Toreros registered four aces and 11 errors on the night. Defensively the Toreros held the edge with USD out-blocking the Tigers 11-5 and holding the advantage in digs 51-42.
The Toreros will return to action in the Jenny Craig Pavilion next week when they host Santa Clara on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT and San Francisco on Saturday at 12 p.m. PT.
