SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's basketball returns home on Tuesday night to take on Biola at 6 p.m. in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
 
The contest marks the first meeting since the 1980s between the two teams. Biola is coming off two victories against Alaska Fairbanks and Cal State San Bernardino. The game against the Toreros will mark Biola's first true road contest of the 2019-20 season.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego continued its winning ways against Air Force to bring its overall record to 2-0 to start the season.
 
• The Toreros' defensive efforts highlighted the game reaching double-digit steals (11) and recording six blocks on the night. Myah Pace led the way with three rejections individually for San Diego.
 
• Four players reached double figures, led by Leticia Soares who had 16 points and eight rebounds on the afternoon. Madison Pollock added 13 points, and Pace added 12.
 
• San Diego fought hard on the glass grabbing 15 total boards and turning them into 15 second chance points. Senior Patricia Brossmann pulled down five offensive rebounds to lead San Diego's offense.
 
• For the second game in a row, the Toreros built a solid lead going into the half with a 13-0 run with three minutes left in the second quarter. Pollock capitalized off a jumper to build the lead to 38-19. San Diego went into the half with a 38-23 advantage.
 
• San Diego got a boost from its bench in the fourth quarter, with non-starters scoring six of its 12 total points to help secure the victory.
 
RECAPPING THE 2018-19 CAMPAIGN
• San Diego returns four starters for 2019-20 in Madison Pollock, Sydney Hunter, Patricia Brossmann and Myah Pace.
 
• Returning seniors Brossmann, Pollock and Leticia Soares were USD's top three scorers last season, averaging 11.4, 11.2, and 10.3 points per game. Brossmann led the team with 7.6 rebounds per game.
 
• The 2018-19 season ended in the first round of the WCC Tournament with a 63-59 loss to Santa Clara to bring San Diego's overall record to 9-21.  This marked only the third losing season in head coach Cindy Fisher's tenure at San Diego.
 
• The Toreros led for a majority of the contest before the Broncos went on a 15-1 run beginning at the end of the third period to take the lead. San Diego shot 33 percent from the floor and outscored the Broncos 17-4 in second chance points. The Toreros won the rebound battle 44-36 including 17 offensive boards.
 
• San Diego suffered multiple injuries during the 2018-19 season with six athletes lost to injury throughout the campaign.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST BIOLA
• This game marks the eighth meeting between Biola and San Diego, as the Eagles lead the all-time series 6-1. This is the first meeting between both teams since the 1983 season.
 
INSIDE THE PAINT
• Marked by key performances from Soares, the Toreros have been dominant inside the paint so far in the 2019-20 season.
 
• San Diego has recorded double-digit points from near the basket in both contests, recording a season-high 42 points in the paint against Air Force.
 
DOUBLE-DIGIT PRODUCTION
• San Diego has seen four players reach double-digit figures in both contests. Pace, Soares, Pollock, Ana Ramos, and Jordyn Edwards have all reached the double-digit mark so far in 2019-20.
 
• Pace leads the offensive production for the Toreros recording 30 points on the year and averaging 15 per game. The junior guard has been potent at the line shooting 100 percent and from beyond the arch, recording a .667 three-point shooting percentage.
 
• Soares sits closely behind Pace with 27 points on the year. The center shot 75 percent from the field against Air Force. Soares is 7-10 from the line and is averaging 13.5 points per game.
 
FRESH FACES
• The Toreros feature a talented freshmen duo this season with the additions of Amanda Olinger (6-3 forward; Chatsworth, Calif.) and Ayanna Khalfani (5-11 guard; Woodland Hills, Calif.).
 
• USD also added sophomore transfer Erica Martinsen from Virginia to join its experienced group of returners.
 
• Khalfani has started to make immediate impact for San Diego off the bench, playing 31 minutes so far.
 
COACHING STAFF CHANGES
• Coach Fisher welcomed Jasmin Holliday as a new addition to the San Diego coaching staff, replacing Mery Andrade who left for an assistant coaching position with the Erie Bayhawks in the NBA G League.
 
• Prior to USD, Holliday served as an assistant coach at LMU for four seasons. She spent one season each as a graduate assistant, administrative assistant, director of operations and assistant coach.
