SAN DIEGO—Four Toreros reached double-digit kills as San Diego took care of Saint Mary's, 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

The Toreros (18-5, 11-1 WCC) hit .254 as a team and collected 11 blocks, defeating the Gaels (8-14, 4-8 WCC) 25-16, 24-26, 25-19, 25-19 to sweep the season series.

Grace Frohling paced USD with a match-high 14 kills, hitting .478 and adding three blocks and a career-high six aces to finish with 21.5 points for the Toreros.
Katie Lukes and
Thana Fayad collected 11 kills each and
Megan Jacobsen added 10.

The San Diego defense limited SMC to a .130 hitting percentage on the day.
Lauren Turner tied her career high finishing with eight blocks, including four solo stops. Frohling was second on the team with three blocks and Jacobsen and
Anna Newsome added two each.

Annie Benbow led the Toreros in the back court, collecting 12 digs while Newsome added nine and
Payton Douglass and Fayad added seven each. Newsome also collected 44 assists to finish one dig shy of a double-double.

It was all USD in the first set, with the Toreros hitting .346 behind four kills from Frohling. Turner collected three of her eight blocks and San Diego cruised to a 25-16 first-set victory.

The Toreros held a commanding 20-15 lead in the second set before a 7-2 run by the Gaels tied the game at 22-all. The teams traded points to a 24-24 tie before SMC rattled off two straight points to take the second set and even the match 1-1.

San Diego jumped out to a 13-4 lead in the third and never looked back. Fayad and Frohling tallied four kills and three kills respectively and the Toreros held SMC to their lowest hitting percentage of the match at .026. USD led start to finish to go up 2-1 in the match.

The teams remained within two points late into the fourth set before back-to-back kills from Lukes and a solo block by Turner gave USD a 20-15 lead. The Toreros held steady down the stretch ending with a Frohling kill to seal the set 25-19 and the match 3-1.

Next up the Toreros will head to the Bay Area next week to face off with San Francisco (Nov. 7) and Santa Clara (Nov. 9).
