SAN DIEGO - San Diego will return to Jenny Craig Pavilion on Wednesday night to take on 2019 WNIT qualifier Idaho. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. (PT).
 
Wednesday's contest marks the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Game for the Toreros. Free food and courtside seats will be available for those in attendance. USD faculty and staff can claim their tickets at the JCP Ticket Office by showing their valid San Diego I.D.
 
This marks the fourth meeting between the Toreros and the Vandals. Idaho is coming off a 2019 WNIT run to the Round of 16 and is 3-3 to start the 2019-20 season.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros finished second in the San Diego Thanksgiving Tournament as USD fell 64-60 to Texas Tech in the championship game.
 
• Junior guard Myah Pace led the Toreros with nine points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals. Her performance marked two new season-highs in rebounds and assists.
 
• Madison Pollock recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds in the contest. Led by her five offensive rebounds, San Diego crashed the offensive glass well, outscoring Texas Tech 16-11 in second chance points.
 
• San Diego's defense forced 20 turnovers by the Red Raiders to create 16 points on the offensive end of the floor. Pace's five steals led the way individually for USD.
 
• Texas Tech built a 36-28 advantage going into the half, but San Diego came surging back in the third quarter as a steal by Pace and breakaway point by Edwards shifted the momentum to bring USD within three.
 
• The Toreros went on a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter, finished off by a jumper from Pollock to shrink the deficit to 57-52 with five and a half minutes remaining. Pollock brought San Diego within three with 51 seconds remaining, but Texas Tech was able to hold on for the win in the final seconds.
 
• San Diego reached the contest after a 57-49 win against Monmouth, where the Toreros fought back from a halftime deficit to take the tournament opener. Three players reached double figures in the game led by Patricia Brossmann who had 11 points on the afternoon. Sydney Hunter and Pollock chipped in with 10 points each.
 
POLLOCK'S PRODUCTION
• The Snohomish, Wash. native has become an offensive force for the Toreros as of late.
 
• Pollock recorded back-to-back double-doubles in the San Diego Thanksgiving Tournament and led the Toreros in rebounds against Monmouth and Texas Tech.
 
• The senior guard tied her season-high with 17 points versus Texas Tech and recorded 10 points against Monmouth. She was the sole Torero to reach double figures in the loss to the Red Raiders.
 
• Pollock now leads San Diego in three different categories: total points (74), points per game (12.3) and defensive rebounds per game (4.3).
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST IDAHO
• This game marks the fourth meeting between the Vandals and the Toreros. San Diego owns the all-time series at 3-0. This is the first meeting in five years between the two teams.
 
AMONG THE CONFERENCE'S BEST
• Pace, Brossmann and Jordyn Edwards continue to rank among the best in the West Coast Conference.
 
• Pace, an Oakland, Calif. native, has been key for San Diego's defense and leads the WCC in steals. Her 23 takeaways over six games have helped the Toreros score over 100 points off of turnovers. The junior guard ranks among the top five in three other categories: assists, assist/turnover ratio and minutes played.
 
• Brossmann has played an integral role in second chance point opportunities for USD, crashing the glass for 22 offensive rebounds so far this season, ranking her third in the WCC. The senior forward has been San Diego's leading rebounder in four out of six contests.
 
• Edwards also ranks in the top five in three categories in the conference: free throw percentage, steals and assist/turnover ratio.
 
FROM THE LINE
• San Diego has seen key production from the free throw line so far this season to aid its offensive efforts.
 
• As a team, the Toreros have recorded a .740 free throw percentage over six games, tallying 127 attempts at the line.
 
• Edwards leads the team in free throw production and is perfect from the line so far this season hitting 14 out of 14 opportunities. Pollock has seen the most chances from the free throw line and is 17 for 22 over six games.
 
KEEP AN EYE OUT
• Freshman Ayanna Khalfani has seen valuable minutes off the bench for San Diego.
 
• The freshman is averaging 14.2 minutes per game and has seen action in all six contests this season. She's averaging 4.5 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game and is shooting .750 from the line.
 
• Senior Ana Ramos leads the team in three-point percentage shooting .412 from beyond the arc. Ramos has made the second most three-pointers on the team behind Pace.
