San Diego will host Pacific and Saint Mary's this weekend

 SAN DIEGO—San Diego will play host to Pacific and Saint Mary's this weekend inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion. 
 
The Toreros (8-14, 1-10 WCC) will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day prior to Thursday's game against the Tigers (14-7, 7-4 WCC) at 6 p.m. PT. USD will then face the Gaels (14-8, 7-4 WCC) on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT before a two-week stretch on the road.
 
The games will be streamed via theW.tv and live statistics will be available on USDToreros.com.
 
NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS CELEBRATION
• The Toreros will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Thursday prior to their game against Pacific. 
 
• San Diego will welcome the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks President and COO, Danita Johnson as the featured guest speaker at a receptionbeginning at 4:30 p.m.
 
• Wednesday marks the 33rd annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day, a national observance celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sports.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego dropped tough contests to Pepperdine, 88-65, and Loyola Marymount, 83-57, this past weekend on the road.
 
• Four Toreros reached double-digit scoring against Pepperdine on Thursday but USD could not keep pace with the high-powered Waves offense that finished the night 32-of-56 (57 percent) from the field and 8-of-13 from three-point range.
 
Leticia Soares scored a game-high 17 points, while Sydney Hunter recorded 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting and a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. Hunter also added four rebounds.
 
• SydneyShepard added 12 points, including 2-for-5 from three-point range and 4-for-4 from the line. She also recorded a team-high four assists. Madison Pollock finished with 10 points and tied Patricia Brossmann with a team-high six rebounds.
 
• The Waves offense came out red-hot in the first quarter, hitting 80 percent from the field with three 3-pointers to take a 29-13 lead.
 
• Aminata Dosso provided a spark for San Diego in the second quarter, scoring seven of the Toreros 17 points, but USD still trailed 30-48 at the half.
 
• The Toreros kept pace with the Waves in the second half, minimizing turnovers and shooting 40 percent from the field to match the Pepperdine offense. However, the Waves maintained a comfortable lead for the remainder of the contest on their way to the series sweep over USD.
 
• Madison Pollock scored a team-high 18 points and Patricia Brossmann recorded a double-double against Loyola Marymount on Saturday afternoon.
 
• Despite three players reaching double-digit scoring, the Toreros could not overcome a strong first quarter by the Lions in which LMU shot 64 percent and went 3-of-5 behind the arc to start the game.
 
• Pollock's 18 points led the Toreros offense, with the junior hitting 7-of-17 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line. Brossmann added 13 points and 10 rebounds for San Diego to record her eighth double-double of the season. 
 
• Freshman Kiera Oakry posted a season-high 12 points and added five rebounds for USD. Leticia Soares chipped in eight points, while Sydney Shepard and Sydney Hunter led the Toreros with four assists apiece.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PACIFIC
• The Toreros lead the all-time series with the Tigers, 16-6. Pacific won the first matchup this season, 79-47. 
 
Leticia Soares recorded her first double-double for the Toreros, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sydney Hunter finished with eight points and Madison Pollock and Sydney Shepard each had three assists and Pollock added eight rebounds for USD.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SAINT MARY'S
• The Gaels lead the all-time series with the Toreros, 47-28, including a 74-60 victory earlier this season in San Diego.
 
Patricia Brossmann recorded a career-high 22 points and added 12 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. Pollock added 16 points, seven rebounds while Soares chipped in eight points and Shepard notched a team-high five assists.
 
NOTEABLE ABSENCES 
• San Diego suffered multiple injuries at the midpoint this season and is currently without starting guard Myah Pace, as well as Ana Ramos and Karla Martínez. 
 
LEADING THE WAY
• Patricia Brossmann has established herself as a top performer for the Toreros this season. She leads the team in points (11.5 avg), rebounds (7.5 avg), steals (1.4 avg) and has a team-high eight double-doubles this season which ranks second in the WCC. Brossmann currently ranks fifth in the WCC in rebounding and third is offensive rebounds (3.1 avg). She also ranks fifth in field-goal percentage (51.2). 
 
Madison Pollock is second on the team in rebounds, averaging 5.8 per game to rank 15th in the conference. Pollock also ranks second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.2 points per game.
 
• Sydney Shepard leads the Toreros from beyond the arc with a 32.1 three-point field-goal percentage, averaging 1.9 per game to rank sixth in the WCC. Shepard also leads the team in assists, averaging 3.7 per game to rank ninth in the conference.
