Toreros Complete Sweep

San Diego defeated Indiana 5-3 to sweep at the Seattle Baseball Showcase

SEATTLE—San Diego completed a 3-0 sweep at the Seattle Baseball Showcase with a 5-3 victory over Indiana on Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Park.

After a leadoff homerun in the sixth inning pulled the Hoosiers (7-7) within one, Travis Kuhn came in for the Toreros (12-4) on the mound. Kuhn pitched four perfect innings, retiring 12 batters in a row, including 10 strikeouts.

The Toreros jumped out to an early 3-0 lead—scoring three runs in the top of the first and forcing the Hoosiers to play catchup for the remainder of the contest. USD added insurance runs in the sixth and ninth, while limiting IU to three runs on six hits with three runners left on base.

Adam Hussain paced the Toreros offensively in the designated hitter spot, going 2-for-3 with one RBI and a walk. Ripken Reyes walked once and was hit by a pitch twice, scoring two of USD's runs in the game. San Diego finished with five hits and three earned runs in the contest.

Josh Hendrickson (3-0, 2.95 ERA) got the start for USD, going five innings and allowing three runs on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts for his third win of the season. Kuhn was credited with the save, his second of the season.

The Toreros return home for a five-game homestand beginning next week. USD will face TCU on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before opening up conference play on Friday against Pepperdine at 6 p.m.
