SAN DIEGO – San Diego completed a three-game sweep of UC Santa Barbara with a dominating 8-1 victory on Sunday afternoon at the USD Softball Complex.

A six-run second inning helped propel the Toreros (14-15) to their fifth win in the past six games.

Sara Silveyra and
Lindsay Clare produced two hits apiece to lead USD's offense. Silveyra led the Toreros with three RBIs, while Clare added two.

Halle Kyler (2-2) got the start in the circle and was excellent through the first 4.0 innings, holding the Gauchos (6-24) to one run – unearned – on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

Hannah Boos finished the final 3.0 innings of the game in relief and did not allow a run to earn her first save of the season.

Rion Simms started the Toreros second-inning rally with an RBI-single up the middle.
Shelbi Evans doubled the lead when she put the ball in play to bring in
Lauren Kane from third.

Silveyra broke the game open with a three-RBI triple down the right field line to put USD up, 5-0.

Sophia Bjerk followed with a ground out to second in the next at-bat that brought Silveyra home from third.

The Toreros added a pair of insurance runs in the fourth inning when Clare sliced a two-RBI single into right field to put USD up, 8-1.

USD will look to continue its momentum next week when it travels to Fresno State for a pair of games against the Bulldogs and two against Cal State Bakersfield.
