RIVERSIDE, Calif. – San Diego opened play at the Highlander Classic with a dominating 10-0 victory against Omaha in five innings at UC Riverside's Amy S. Harrison Stadium.

Sara Silveyra homered to lead an eight-hit barrage by the Toreros (8-12), which scored at least two runs in four of five innings. Seven USD players contributed at least one hit.

Shelbi Evans brought in two runs apiece. Evans went 2-for-2 on the day with a run and a walk.

Sophia Bjerk each produced one RBI.
Taylor Spence led the Toreros with three runs.

Delaney Heller (5-4) got the start in the circle and pitched all 5.0 innings for her fourth complete game and first shutout of the season. She limited Omaha (2-14) to five hits and no walks, racking up five strikeouts.

The teams will meet for a second consecutive game on Saturday at 9 a.m. PT. The Toreros will play Houston immediately after that game with a scheduled first pitch at 11:30 a.m.
