LAS VEGAS – Gemma Garcia provided the clinching point to secure No. 42 San Diego's fifth straight victory, defeating UNLV 4-3 on Saturday morning at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
Garcia pulled out a dramatic 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, comeback victory at No. 3 to seal the victory for the Toreros (7-2). USD dealt the Rebels (9-5) their first home loss in eight matches this season.
 
USD started strong with decisive victories in doubles play to take the doubles point. Maria Tyrina and Daniela Morales made quick work of UNLV's Samantha Li and Alex Kalachova at No. 2, 6-2.
 
Solymar Colling and Maria-Paula Torres took down No. 49 En-Pei Huang and Aiwen Zhu, 6-4, in the No. 1 spot to give the Toreros and early 1-0 lead.
 
Tyrina doubled USD's lead with a 6-2, 6-4, win at No. 6 in singles play. 
 
UNLV cut the lead in half with a victory at No. 1 but Torres earned a 2-6, 6-0, 6-2, comeback victory at No. 5 to put the Toreros up, 3-1.
 
The Rebels earned their second victory of the day with a win at No. 2 but Garcia sealed the victory for the Toreros shortly after with her comeback effort at No. 3.
 
The Toreros will look to continue their momentum Sunday when they take on Michigan State at UNLV.
