PROVO, Utah – San Diego had a tough day all around and dropped a pair of run-rule decisions at BYU on Friday evening.
Â
The Toreros (19-23, 3-5 WCC) were outscored 23-2 in two games against the Cougars (23-20, 7-1 WCC). USD dropped the first game 8-0 in six innings and fell in the second contest 15-2 in five innings.
Â
Lindsay Clare logged the only hit for USD in the first game.
Delaney Heller (10-8) got the start in the circle and lasted 1 2/3 innings before being relieved by
Halle Kyler.
Â
Kyler shouldered a majority of the load, holding the Cougars to three runs on four hits and one walk with one strikeout in 4.0 innings.
Â
The Toreros offense generated more production in the second game with seven hits and a pair of runs, but it could not keep pace with BYU's which produced 15 runs on 13 hits.
Â
Lauren Hendrickson provided a pinch-hit two-RBI single to give USD its only runs of the night.
Â
The Toreros will look to bounce back in the series finale on Saturday at noon PT.
