SAN DIEGO – Madison Casiano hit a grand slam to power San Diego to a 9-1 win in five innings against Pacific and secure the series sweep on Sunday afternoon at the USD Softball Complex.

Casiano launched her second home run in as many days in the bottom of the third inning after the Toreros loaded the bases with no outs. Her homer gave the Toreros (18-18, 3-0 WCC) a commanding 7-1 lead.

Sara Silveyra delivered the final blow in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Silveyra laced a two-RBI single to left field to bring in the game-winning runs and secure the eight-run rule decision.

It was the second consecutive game Silveyra contributed the walk-off hit after hitting a grand slam during the second game of the series on Saturday.

Silveyra was an offensive force all weekend, going 7-for-10 (.700) with a grand slam, three doubles, six RBIs, six runs, a 1.300 slugging percentage and a .727 on-base percentage.

Lindsay Clare also had a strong weekend offensively, batting .571 (4-for-7) with seven RBIs, three doubles and four runs. Casiano went 4-for-9 with a team-high eight RBIs, two home runs, three runs and a double.

Madison Earnshaw got the start in the circle for USD but was relieved by
Delaney Heller (10-7) after 1 2/3 innings. Heller limited the Tigers (14-22, 0-3 WCC) to no runs on two hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

The Toreros will look to keep its momentum going with its final midweek game of the season on Wednesday when it plays host to San Diego State at 6 p.m. WCC play continues next weekend with a three-game series at Loyola Marymount.
