NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – A goal in the 66th minute proved to be enough as San Diego fell to CSUN, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon in Northridge. The Toreros are now 4-3-0 on the season as CSUN improves to 5-1-2.
The Toreros' offense was explosive in the first half with shots by five different players.
Milan Moses,
Madison Louderback, and
Delaney Jannone fired off a shot on goal each, but CSUN's Amanda Delgado was there for the save.
San Diego entered the second 45 tied at zeros as both teams battled for possession early in the half.
Eden Quiroz looked to break through in the 63rd minute off of a corner kick, but the shot was grabbed by Delgado.
In the 66th minute, CSUN's Amanda Martin connected off of a penalty kick after a foul from
Halle Walls to give the Matadors the go-ahead.
Louderback fired off one final shot for the Toreros in the 84th, missing just left for the equalizer.
USD saw valuable minutes from its bench with three players contributing over 30 minutes of action.
The Toreros will continue their five-game road stretch on Friday with a match at Utah Valley. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. (PT).
