Another Challenge on the Road

San Diego will take on 5-1-2 UC Riverside on Friday

SAN DIEGO – Coming off its first overtime win of the season, San Diego continues its stretch of road tests when it travels to UC Riverside to face the Highlanders on Friday at UCR Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.

USD, which is off to its best start in 13 years, and UC Riverside both enter the game as some of the top teams in the nation in terms of winning percentage as both teams have only one loss on their records. The Toreros, who are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, topped UC Irvine last Friday with a goal in the 98th minute to improve to 2-0 in road contests this season.

Meanwhile, the Highlanders are unbeaten at home (4-0-2). However, their last two results, both at home, have been ties against LMU (0-0) and Grand Canyon (1-1).

The Toreros have the 13th-best save percentage in the nation (.846), are tied for second among WCC teams in goals allowed, and third in the conference in goals against average (0.56).

VI – BERRY GOOD

The senior is also eighth in the country in total points (15). He is three goals and points away from matching his career-highs in both categories which were set last season. Berry is also working his way up USD's all-time career goals list, as he enters Friday tied for sixth with 27.
