San Diego Men's Soccer Ranked No. 7 in United Soccer Coaches Poll

Toreros stay in the top 10 for a second straight week as the lone West Coast Conference program in the Top 25

SAN DIEGO — San Diego men's soccer is ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Division I Top 25 released Tuesday, a second consecutive week in the top 10 for a program that opened the season at No. 18.

The Toreros totaled 149 points in this week's balloting after climbing to a program-best No. 2 a week ago, and are the only West Coast Conference team in the rankings. The poll reflects results through Aug. 30 and does not account for Monday night's 1-1 draw at UC Santa Barbara, which enters the Top 25 this week at No. 21.

Ninth-year head coach Brian Quinn's side is 2-1-1 through four matches, three of them away from Torero Stadium. San Diego opened the season in Seattle with a 2-1 win over then-No. 1 Washington, the fifth win over a top-ranked opponent in program history and the first of Quinn's tenure, then trailed Liberty at halftime of the home opener three days later and answered with three unanswered goals in a 3-1 win.

The lone loss came Aug. 27 at Stanford, which sits atop this week's poll, where a substitute scored unassisted in the 89th minute of a 1-0 match. At Meredith Field at Harder Stadium on Monday, Steven Ramirez converted a 12th-minute penalty before the Gauchos answered in the 78th. Goalkeeper Lucca Adams made four saves against 21 UC Santa Barbara shots.

Ramirez leads the Toreros with three goals in 2026 and was named WCC Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 24. Adams, the 2025 WCC Goalkeeper of the Year, has appeared in all four matches. Quinn's teams have won four consecutive WCC regular-season titles, the first four-peat in league history.

San Diego stays on the road Saturday at California Baptist, with kickoff at CBU Soccer Stadium in Riverside set for 7:30 p.m. The Toreros then visit UC Irvine, which is receiving votes in this week's poll, on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m.
