SAN DIEGO—San Diego will travel to Portland and Gonzaga to begin West Coast Conference play this weekend.

The Toreros (7-4) will take on the Pilots (8-3) on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT before facing the Bulldogs (6-6) on Saturday at 12 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros went 3-0 last weekend at the USD Invitational in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. USD knocked off No. 20 USC, 3-2, for its first win over a top-25 opponent this season and swept both San Diego State and Long Beach State to conclude the weekend.

Grace Frohling had a strong weekend, leading San Diego with 34 kills (3.09 per set) and producing the second-most blocks with 10 and four aces.
Katie Lukes also put up strong numbers for USD, finishing the weekend with 33 kills (3.00 per set) and six total blocks for 38.0 points.

Megan Jacobsen led a dominating defensive effort for the Toreros, finishing the weekend with 12 total blocks, while
Lauren Turner added eight.
Annie Benbow registered a team-high 36 digs while
Anna Newsome and
Payton Douglass added 30 and 29 respectively.

Anna Newsome collected 81 assists, while
Laura Madill chipped in 28. Newsome also added five aces and Douglass registered four.

San Diego vs USC
• Frohling hit .464 and tied her career high with 17 kills in the 3-2 victory over No. 20 USC. The Toreros took the first two sets easily 25-18, 25-17 but the Trojans answered, winning the third and fourth to send the match to a deciding fifth frame.

• USD played lights-out in the back court, outdigging USC 61-43. Benbow recorded her first double-double, setting career highs in digs (18) and assists (10). USC committed 12 service errors including a serve that went long on match point to give San Diego the 15-13 victory.

San Diego vs San Diego State
• Lukes registered her second-straight game with double-digit kills, hitting .357 and collecting 13 kills as the Toreros took down their cross-town rival SDSU in straight-sets. USD collected seven aces including four from Frohling in the first set and limited the Aztecs to a .124 hitting percentage on the night.

San Diego vs Long Beach State
 • San Diego registered a season-high 15.0 team blocks in its win over Long Beach State. It was the most blocks by USD in a single game since October 10, 2014 against Pacific (5 sets, 16.0 blocks). Jacobsen, Frohling and Turner each recorded five blocks.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PORTLAND
• San Diego leads the all-time series over the Pilots 56-10. The Toreros took both contests last season winning 3-0 at home and 3-2 in Portland.

• The Toreros lead the all-time series with the Bulldogs, 53-9. The Toreros swept both matchups last season, 3-0.

• San Diego continues to receive votes in the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll, garnering 51 total points.
