SAN DIEGO—San Diego will play host to Pepperdine for a midweek matchup before traveling to face Saint Mary's and Pacific this weekend.
 
The Toreros (9-4, 2-0 WCC) will face the Waves (6-7, 2-0 WCC) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. PT. USD will then hit the road to take on the Gaels on Thursday (7 p.m.) and the Tigers on Saturday (12 p.m.).
 
All games will be live streamed via the WCC Network and live statistics will be available on USDToreros.com.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros went 2-0 on the opening weekend of WCC play, sweeping both Portland and Gonzaga in straight sets. USD has swept its last four opponents and has eight 3-set victories this season.
 
• Thana Fayad turned in an all-around standout performance, collected double-doubles in both matches. Fayad averaged 4.17 kills and 3.67 digs per set, adding four aces and three blocks for a total of 30.5 points on the weekend.
 
• Katie Lukes also reached double-digit kills in both matches, hitting .421 and finishing the week with 20 kills (3.33 k/s).
 
• The Torero defense limited its opponents to a .094 hitting percentage, with Megan Jacobsen and Grace Frohling leading the way for USD defensively at the net. Jacobsen collected six blocks, while Frohling register five (1 solo). 
 
• Fayad and Annie Benbow paced the Toreros in the back court, finishing with 22 and 20 digs respectively, while Anna Newsome added 18.
 
• Newsome led the Torero offense to a .342 hitting percentage, collecting 50 assists (8.33 a/s) and tied Fayad for most aces on the weekend with four.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PEPPERDINE
• The Toreros trail the Waves in the all-time series, 31-40. The teams split the series in 2018 with the Toreros winning 3-0 at home and falling 2-3 on the road.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SAINT MARY'S
• San Diego leads the all-time series with the Gaels, 54-14. SMC took both meetings last year, winning 3-2 in the JCP before sweeping USD 3-0 in Moraga, Calif.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PACIFIC
• The Toreros hold a 16-0 record in the all-time series with Pacific. USD swept both meetings last season 3-0. 
 
FAYAD EARNS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Thana Fayad was named the WCC Player of the Week (Sept. 30) for week four after registered double-doubles in both of the Toreros' 3-0 wins to begin conference play. The senior outside hitter averaged 4.17 kills and 3.67 digs per set, adding four aces and three blocks to collect 30.5 points on the weekend.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
• San Diego continues to receive votes in the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll, garnering 64 total points.
 
OFFENSIVE EFFICIENCY
• The Toreros are currently hitting .282 as a team on the season to rank 11th in the nation and first in the WCC. USD is collecting 13.87 kills per set to rank 24th nationally and first in the conference.
 
• USD also ranks first the WCC for assists per set (12.68) and 33rd nationally.
 
• Megan Jacobsen ranks second in the WCC and 36th nationally with a .388 hitting percentage.

PETRIE NEARS 400 WINS
• Head coach Jennifer Petrie, who took over the program in 1999, is currently in her 21st season with the Toreros and currently holds a 398-149 career record. Petrie has led USD to the NCAA Tournament in 19 of her 21 seasons, with four Sweet 16 appearances, and been named WCC Coach of the Year five times.
