SAN DIEGO—No. 25 San Diego dominated Arkansas for the second consecutive sweep of the season with a 3-0 victory on Friday night at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

The Torero (2-2) defense was gave the Razorbacks (3-2) trouble all night, collecting eight team blocks, 50 digs and limiting Arkansas to a -.021 hitting percentage, to win in straight sets 25-13, 25-13, 25-19.Â

Megan Jacobsen was efficient for the Toreros, hitting .471 with nine kills and four blocks, while
Roxie Wiblin paced USD with 10 kills, two aces.
Thana Fayad and
Annie Benbow each collected 11 digs for USD and Fayad added nine kills and one of the Toreros' seven total aces on the night.

Anna Newsome and
Laura Madill split time in the setter position, leading the Toreros to a .265 team average. Newsome led USD with 20 assists and a team-high three aces, while Madill added 13 assists.

The Toreros jumped out to an early 9-2 in the first set and never looked back. USD earned a .607 kill percentage and limited the Razorback to just four kills in the first frame, winning 25-13.Â

San Diego cooled off in the second set offensively, hitting .059 but went on a 9-2 run midway through the set to create a comfortable lead 18-10. Behind the tough serving of Wiblin, the Toreros closed out the final six points in a row to take set two, 25-13 as well.

The Razorbacks began to find their rhythm in the third set and kept pace with the Toreros in a game that saw six ties and two lead changes. With the Toreros leading 14-8, Arkansas strung together a 7-1 run to knot the score at 15-all. But USD did not panic and outscored the Razorbacks 10-4 down the stretch to clinch the victory.

The Toreros are back in action against No. 2 Nebraska on Saturday at 7 p.m. PT inside the JCP.
