LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros earned two key road wins last week at St. Mary's and Pacific to finish out a three-game road stretch. San Diego now sits fourth in the conference standings behind Gonzaga, BYU and Portland.
• At St. Mary's, the Toreros garnered an eight-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back on the way to a 73-56 victory.
Jordyn Edwards and
Myah Pace led the way with two 18-point performances on the evening. Edwards tacked on six rebounds and three steals, while Pace added four assists and two steals to her performance.
• San Diego's defense was potent in Moraga forcing 26 St. Mary's turnovers and clearing 25 defensive boards compared to the Gaels seven offensive rebounds.
• Against Pacific, Edwards once again helped lead San Diego's offense recording 19-points in the contest. The guard was efficient in the contest shooting 60 percent from the field, 50 percent from the line and 80 percent from beyond the arc.
• Three more Toreros reached double figures in Pace,
Patricia Brossmann and
Sydney Hunter. The performance moved USD to 6-1 this season when four or more players reach double-digits.
• San Diego created a 10-point halftime lead as the Toreros were strong from deep in the second quarter, knocking down four three-point shots. Pacific tried to close the gap in the fourth quarter as the Tigers tied it up with a minute and a half to go, but Brossmann quickly responded in the paint to put USD up by two.
• The Toreros then hung on in the final minutes to win in Stockton, 66-64, marking the narrowest margin of victory this season.
Â
EDWARDS' AND PACE'S OFFENSIVE PROWESS
• Edwards' back-to-back double-digit performances marked the first for the redshirt junior since the first two games of the season.
• The Lynnwood, Wash. native emerged as an efficient scorer, shooting .615 from three on the week to make her most three pointers in a contest since her 22-point performance at Cal State Fullerton in December.
• Edwards now leads San Diego in three-pointers made (22) and has led the Toreros' offensive efficiently from the point guard position collecting a team -leading 71 assists on the year.
• Pace has also been a key player in San Diego's offensive efforts, garnering four back-to-back double-digit scoring performances over 18 games this season. Pace averages the most minutes with 34.5 per game.
• Last week, Pace also took advantage of opportunities from beyond the arc shooting 2-for-2 against St. Mary's and 1-for-3 at Pacific.
• The duo combined to shoot a collective 60 percent from three in San Diego's win over St. Mary's.
Â
BECOMING HOT FROM THREE
• San Diego emerged as a three-point machine in the wins over St. Mary's and Pacific. The Toreros recorded their most three pointers against a Division I opponent (7) in Moraga before toppling the effort at Pacific to record eight against the Tigers.
• Led by Edwards, Pace and Brossmann, the Toreros shot a season-high 50 percent from beyond the arc in Stockton. Brossmann shot 50 percent from three against the Tigers and is one shy from tying her career-high eight three-pointers in a season.
• Pace has surpassed her previous career-high for threes in a season, making 17 so far this season. The junior guard only hit eight in the 2018-19 campaign before missing the remainder of the year due to injury.
• As a team, San Diego is now shooting .264 from deep compared to last season's final mark of .279.
Â

• San Diego owns the all-time series against the Broncos at 41-35. The Toreros are on a one-game losing streak to Santa Clara after falling to the Broncos in the regular season and the 2019 WCC Tournament.
Â
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SAN FRANCISCO
• The Toreros also hold advantage in the series against San Francisco at 40-32. San Diego recorded one of its two 2018-19 conference victories against the Dons to own a one-game winning streak.
Â

• San Diego added another player to the rotation against St. Mary's as Virgina transfer
Erica Martinsen received a waiver of eligibility from the NCAA.
• Martinesen and
Leticia Soares have been key in the rotation the past two contests, collecting around 55 minutes of action in both contests last week.
